Fees and practical information

People are often too polite — or too anxious — to ask about money. So here it is, plainly.

Fees

Introduction call (30 minutes)
Free
Standard session (50 minutes)
£50
Reduced rate (50 minutes)
£30

Reduced rate

The £30 rate is available if you're receiving benefits, on a low income, a student, or a blue light worker. Just say so when you get in touch — there's no means test and no awkward conversation. It's the same session.

Sessions

How often

Most people meet weekly, though we'll agree what suits you.

Where

In person in Portsmouth, or online from anywhere in the UK. I don't publish the address of my room here — I'll give you the location and the practical details on our introduction call. If you're not local, or you'd simply rather not travel, online sessions work just as well for most people.

When

Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.

How long for

As long as it's useful. There's no minimum commitment and no fixed course of sessions.

Payment

Payment is by bank transfer, at least 48 hours before your session.

Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel or rearrange, please give at least 48 hours' notice and there's no charge.

Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice are charged in full. That isn't meant unkindly — the time is held for you and can't be filled at short notice. It'll always be in the agreement we make at the start, so there are no surprises.

Questions people ask first

£50 for 50 minutes, or £30 at the reduced rate if you're on benefits, a low income, a student, or a blue light worker. The 30-minute introduction call is free.

Nothing you haven't agreed to. If it feels right, we book a first session and go from there. If it doesn't, that's a perfectly good outcome — you're not signing up to anything by having the call.

Most likely. I work with trauma, neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, burnout, self-esteem, relationships and work difficulties. There are a few areas I don't cover — addiction, couples, EMDR, pregnancy and baby loss, and conditions needing specialist psychiatric care — and if you're bringing one of those I'll say so early and try to point you somewhere better.

No. Turning up unsure is normal, and working out what's actually going on is part of the job.

There's no set number. Some people come for a few months, others longer. We'll keep talking about it rather than deciding on day one.

Yes — within the BACP's ethical framework and the legal limits I'll explain at the start. I also have monthly clinical supervision, where my work is discussed anonymously.

Not currently. I'm available Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.

How to start

  1. Email me with a little about what you're looking for — a couple of lines is plenty.

  2. I'll reply within 24–48 hours to arrange your free 30-minute introduction call, usually in the same week.

  3. We talk. Phone or video, whichever you prefer.

  4. You decide. No obligation either way.
